She is the daughter of the most illustrious parents, both of whom have made their presence felt in their respective fields. Now it's for her time to rise

and shine. She made her presence strongly felt in Rang De Basantiand now she is planning to repeat the same magic again with her very

sturdy performance in her forthcoming film Khoya Khoya Chand, which is touted as an eternal classic love story by the master filmmaker

Sudhir Mishra. IndiaFM caught up with this lovely lady for an exclusive chat and came back mesmerized by her eternally timeless glass hour

beauty. And for those who missed out on their chance to chat with her, IndiaFM goes back in the recent nostalgic mood and brings you the

chat excerpts.

NAZIA: Aslamoalikum Soha, how are you?
Soha Ali Khan: Valekum salaam, how are you Nazia .

Oracle: Hello Mam, are you nervous, excited, or chilled out?
Soha Ali Khan: I have to confess Oracle I am nervous as this is a big film for me, my biggest role to date.

NAZIA: What language do you speak at home?
Soha Ali Khan: At home I speak a mix of Hindi, Urdu, and English.

Oracle: What are your expectations from Khoya Khoya Chand?
Soha Ali Khan: I hope people will like the film. It’s very special and we have all worked really hard on it.

NAZIA: What is your favorite Bengali dish?
Soha Ali Khan: Favorite Bengali dish has to be Mishti Doi.

Oracle: Hello...Sudhir Mishra is an amazing director...what made you

work with him?
Soha Ali Khan: I saw Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi and loved it; I have seen his other films too and I think he writes very good roles for women strong

roles not stereotypically demure.

NAZIA: How is Shiney as a co-star?
Soha Ali Khan: Shiney suits the character really well and with me he was fine, he was very professional and has a good working relationship

with Sudhir Mishra.

Oracle: Hello...Sudhir Mishra is an amazing director...what made you work with him?
Soha Ali Khan: I saw Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi and loved it; I have seen his other films too and I think he writes very good roles for women

strong roles not stereotypically demure.

Celitina: Hello Soha, as a kid you were not close to any star kids. What was your reaction when you come to know that your mom is very big

star?
Soha Ali Khan: Celitina, I grew up in Delhi and was the third child of my mother. And my mother more or less retired by then and I wasn’t

surrounded by anyone from the film world so to me they have always been very normal parents just Amma and Abba not stars.

NAZIA: Tell us some of your experiences during the shoot?
Soha Ali Khan: I think everyone improves hugely after their first film. I know I have also improved. It helps when you work with good

directors who teach you like Rituparna Ghosh and Sudhir.

NAZIA: What’s the story line of this film?
Soha Ali Khan: Its a love story set in the backdrop of the Hindi film industry of the 1950’s and 1960’s

NAZIA: What’s your role?
Soha Ali Khan: My role is of an actress from that time period it’s very challenging actually as in those days actresses used to do everything

from action, tragedy, comedy, classical dance, singing and looking beautiful through all of it.

Sameer: do you wish to do any Bengali films?
Soha Ali Khan: I love Bengali cinema and think some of the best directors are from that region like Pradeep Sarkar, Rituparno Sen Gupta and

I would love to do a Bengali films.

Ritu: For Khoya Khoya Chand, did you ask your mom for any tips?
Soha Ali Khan: My mom lent me some Sarees and Jewelry but I have to say all the directorial performance related inputs came from Sudhir. My mom

agrees that you can only have one director.

NAZIA: You look a lot like your mom.
Soha Ali Khan: If you think I look like my mom that’s a huge compliment, thanks.

Rucha: What is your sexiest feature?
Soha Ali Khan: My sexiest feature is my personality

NAZIA: Well, what’s your final verdict to the rumors circulating about you and Abhay Deol
Soha Ali Khan: Abhay is my lovely and a dear friend that’s all, honestly.

Ritu: For Khoya Khoya Chand, did you ask your mom for any tips?
Soha Ali Khan: My mom lent me some Sarees and Jewelry but I have to say all the directorial performance related inputs came from Sudhir.

My mom agrees that you can only have one director.

Celitina: What's special about KKC compared to your other movies?
Soha Ali Khan : The film which I enjoyed being a part of most has to be this one KKC because its my biggest most substantial role to date

but naturally RDB was very special as an experience even though I was just a part of the film and huge cast it will always be very close to my heart.

NAZIA: If not acting what would you have done?
Soha Ali Khan: If not acting I would have been either a Journalist, Reporter or I would have worked with the United Nations

AkshayeGirl: How is your relation with your brother does he often gives tips?
Soha Ali Khan: I have a great relationship with Bhai he’s the most generous warm person I know and very supportive.

Ss: It’s so great to talk to you I think you are very warm person with the way you chat...were do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Soha Ali Khan: 10 years from now my god I have no long term vision I don’t know what I’ m doing tomorrow

NAZIA: When are you planning to get married?
Soha Ali Khan: Marriage is still in a very distant future.

AZIA: What is your favorite cuisine? and yaah what are you doing tomorrow?
Soha Ali Khan: My favorite food has to be Mughlai food and I’m too focused on today and other is the premiere of KKC to think about

tomorrow.

Deepak: what are your other upcoming films?
Soha Ali Khan: Next release is a lovely film called Mumbai Meri Jaan about the train blasts in Mumbai in July 2006 and then another

film with Sudhir called Tera Kya Hoga Johnny which is a very modern and a black comedy.

Celitina: Could you describe your dream guy?
Soha Ali Khan: My dream guy should have a sense of humor, should be able to make me laugh and laugh at himself he should be kind

intelligent and play a sport and prefer singing.

Avinash: Good evening Soha.......other than acting are you an active participant in any social issues?
Soha Ali Khan: Social issues yes I worked for an NGO for 2 years. And currently I’m working with violence against women issue, regional

peace and security in south Asia. I am also very attached to primary education as a right of every individual.

NAZIA: How does it feel like chatting with your fans?
Soha Ali Khan: This is the first time I’m chatting on the comp ever, it feels great.

Raghu: In RDB how is Aamir to work with; people say he is very professional is it true?
Soha Ali Khan : Aamir is wonderful he’s one of my favorite actors and he’s so dedicated to his work, its very inspirational he’s also very

approachable and will help you out whenever you need help.

Soha Ali Khan: I’d work in Bhatt movies if I liked the script and role.

Deepak: Hello, since when have you been shooting for this film?
Soha Ali Khan: Deepak we shot KKC over three months all in Mumbai.

Raghu: Hello Soha, I am raghu are you doing any hardcore romantic film or comic caper?
Soha Ali Khan: My next film is a horror film actually with UTV which will be great fun to shoot and then yeah I’m going to do a comedy. The

problem with comedies is that all the good roles and dialogues go to the hero and the girl has nothing to do.

NAZIA: What is your biggest fear?
Soha Ali Khan: I am scared of some results.

Soha Ali Khan: I love cricket, more watching it than playing. I can play if you use a tennis ball. The cricket ball hurts like mad.

Viv: Soha, I am a big fan of your family. You all seem to be very close, what’s your star sign? Do you believe in it?
Soha Ali Khan: I am a Libran and I think I am a typical Libran indecisive, romantic, diplomatic, strong and argumentative.

NAZIA: What does your name means?

Muneeb: How was the experience of working with Sonya Jehan, the granddaughter of the legendary singer Noor Jehan?
Soha Ali Khan: Sonya is lovely she is wonderful in the film very beautiful and so refined.

Mites: Do you regret films like Dil Mange More and Shadi No 1?
Soha Ali Khan : It is difficult to predict how a film will do I think I could have chosen a better launch vehicle than Dil Maange More. As

for Shaadi I wanted to work with Davidji but yeah those films was a complete disaster.

Asad khan: Hi, is Rajat kapoor in the film is he a negative character?
Soha Ali Khan: Rajat is not a negative there are no negative characters we are all very human very real that’s what great about Sudhir Mishra

he paints all his characters grey not black or white.

NAZIA: Kareena as an actress or Vidya Balan who do you like?
Soha Ali Khan: I loved kareena in Jab We Met I thought she was fantastic I think she can do anything, versatile but I loved Vidya in

Parineeta.

Soha Ali Khan: I saw Saawariya and Aaja Nachle more recently.

NAZIA: What is your favorite film of Sharmila (mom)?
Soha Ali Khan: My mom did too many tragedies that’s why I like Chupke Chupke, best for once she did a comedy.

Sonu: Is KKC like a page 3 type? Just of the olden days?
Soha Ali Khan: It’s not page 3 type it’s quite special and unique but yeah behind the scenes look at the lives of the stars of that time period.

Muneeb: Which is your favorite song from Khoya Khoya Chand?
Soha Ali Khan: My favorite track from KKC is the title track.

NAZIA: Is the film going to get a special release in London or in Dubai or Pakistan?
Soha Ali Khan: I don’t know about the release internationally I’ll find out.

Sk : Who is your favorite actor from the era 1950 -1970?
Soha Ali Khan: Favorite actress from that time is Meena Kumari and actor probably Guru Dutt

Lina : Who did the whole look for you in the film? And even the dresses?
Soha Ali Khan: Niharika khan is the stylist of the film she is fabulous and did costumes everything, lots of research goes into making a

period film to look like authentic.

Sahil: Which was the most difficult scene in the entire film according to you?
Soha Ali Khan: Sahil, much of the film was very challenging esp. the classical dance as I am not a trained kathak dancer and then I had to

learn horse riding and sword fighting but it was so much fun.

Alone In Rain: Which is your favorite scene in the film?
Soha Ali Khan: My favorite scene in the film is a romantic one with Shiney after I get the Filmfare award and he watches out for it.

Dilu: Define success according to you?
Soha Ali Khan: Commercial success is transient especially in our industry it comes and goes. I think it’s more balanced to define yourself

according to other more secure parameters I think having a happy healthy life and supportive family will see you further in the end.
